Compare raceway-mounted and individually mounted channel letters for commercial signage projects, including installation speed, wall penetrations, service access, and visual appearance.
Two common mounting methods
Channel letters can be mounted individually to the building facade or attached to a raceway that holds wiring and power components. The best choice depends on landlord rules, wall condition, budget, installation access, and desired appearance.
Raceway mounting
A raceway reduces the number of wall penetrations and can make installation faster. It is often preferred by shopping centers and property managers because wiring is contained inside one box. The tradeoff is that the raceway is visible, so it should be painted to match the wall when a cleaner look is needed.
Individual mounting
Individually mounted letters usually look more premium because each letter appears separate on the facade. This method can require more drilling and more careful wiring, but it is often chosen for hotels, flagship retail stores, and higher-end commercial buildings.
How to decide
Ask the landlord or contractor whether raceways are allowed or required. Then compare installation cost, service access, facade material, and visual expectations. For export projects, provide installation drawings so the local team understands the mounting method before the shipment arrives.
